In today's fast-paced world, connecting with voters is more important than ever. Understanding the people who represent us can help us make informed decisions.

I am not just a name on a ballot. I am a person with a rich history, a passion for service, and a commitment to making a difference.

Early Life and Education

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and Staten Island in New York City where I learned to stand up for myself at a young age. Growing up, I was surrounded by family members who emphasized the importance of hard work and civic duty. This upbringing laid the foundation for my future endeavors.

Education played a crucial role in shaping my worldview. I attended local public schools in Brooklyn and Staten island and a specialty High School, Brooklyn Technical High School, where I learned to learn. My passion for learning led me to pursue higher education at Drexel University a co-op school in Philadelphia where I studied Civil Engineering with a minor in Construction Management.

During my college years, I became involved in many extracurricular activities. One of my extracurricular activities was Alpha Phi Omega (APO) The National Service Fraternity. I learned how to listen to diverse perspectives and work collaboratively to address issues affecting my peers.

It was at Drexel that I learned the custodian could do more for you than the President of the University.

Early Career

After completing my education, I began my career as a construction professional in New York City. I worked on a downtown Manhattan High Rise Building Construction site where I gained hands-on experience in working with a diverse construction workforce.

As I progressed in my career, I took on various roles in non-profit organizations.

  • I was Disaster Chairman for the American Red Cross Chapter in Westchester County, NY. In this role I responded to fires in the local community assisting the displaced individuals with food, clothing and shelter. I also responded to disasters in neighboring communities and states like floods in New Jersey, fires in Staten Island and an Ice Jamb Flood in Port Jervis.

  • I rose through the ranks of Alpha Phi Omega and served for 10 years on the National Board of Directors.

Life in Stamford

After moving to Stamford in 1982 and into my condominium in 1983 I took a leadership role on the condominium Board of Directors.

As my children got older and entered Stamford Public Schools I became active in the local Parent Teacher Organizations.

When my boys were in High School, I was very active in the Stamford High School Band Parents Association.

I am on the Steering Committee for the Stamford League of Women Voters (it is not just for women).

When the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford needed someone with construction experience to assist them in restoration of the structure and glass of the church I volunteered for this multi year volunteer assignment.

I am on the Ferguson Library Building Committee

I have also volunteered at events for SPEF, Club Chefs (they raise money for the Stamford Health Foundation which gives toys to children in Stamford Hospital) and Back to School Shop which gives clothing, school supplies and sneakers to identified families in the Stamford Public Schools.

I served on the Stamford Census 2020 committee and was a co-chair of one of the sub committees.

Professional

As a Construction Professional I have advised architects, municipalities, facility departments, universities, non profits, developers, general contractors, sub contractors and construction managers.

I started my own business in consulting providing construction estimates, project schedules and construction management in 1989.

I have been active in a number of professional associations. In the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) – I am a past National President. In the Consulting Estimators Round Table (CERT) I am a past National President. In the Construction Institute I am a member of the Board of Directors.

I have been teaching construction estimating in workshops, continuing education classes in community colleges in Hartford and Norwalk and I am retired after 11 years from teaching estimating classes at Central Connecticut State University.

I have been a member and have served on the Board of Directors for InfraGard in Connecticut - a government (The FBI) and private partnership to safeguard the infrastructure of the country.

Engaging with Voters

Engaging with voters is at the heart of my approach. I understand that effective communication is essential for building trust and fostering relationships. Here are some ways I will connect with the community:

  • Community Events, Email, Attending Neighborhood Association Meetings and Local PTO Meetings

By actively engaging with voters, I demonstrate my commitment to serving the community. I believe that every voice matters and that collaboration is key to creating positive change.

Challenges and Triumphs

Like any public servant, I expect to face challenges along the way. Navigating the political landscape can be complex, and there are often differing opinions on key issues. However, I view these challenges as opportunities for growth.

One significant challenge is addressing the needs of a diverse community. I recognize that different groups have unique concerns and priorities. I will make it a point to engage with various community organizations to ensure that all voices are heard.

The Future with me

I am optimistic about the future.

I plan to continue engaging with voters and advocating for policies that promote equity and justice. I believe that by working together, the community can overcome obstacles and create a brighter future for all.

As I move forward, I will focus on building a legacy of service and leadership. I hope to inspire the next generation of leaders to get involved and make a difference in their communities.

Join the Conversation

Engaging with voters is a two-way street. I encourage everyone to participate in the democratic process. Whether it is attending Board of Representative meetings, reaching out on social media, or volunteering for local initiatives, every action counts.

By staying informed and involved, we can all contribute to positive change in our communities. I believe that together, we can create a better future for everyone.

My journey reflects a deep commitment to making a difference and advocating for the needs of  people.

Let us all strive to engage with our communities. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
